Preparing to send off a manuscript

For the second time in my struggling career as a writer, I have met someone who has a friend in Publishing. This person, so I'm told, works for Macmillan and will look at one of my books if I want. The problem then becomes, which one?

I have recently finished a thriller/ novel about crime and death, which is pretty weird. I'm not sure if it's ready to be sent off, for I haven't even begun a second draft yet. It always seems to me that my next book will be better and will indeed be worthy of publishing. So I finish my next book and guess what? It's not good enough.

With all this in mind, I'm preparing a black comedy novel called PLUGGED which I wrote a while back and will send it to this friend of a friend who works in publishing. So, fingers crossed. I guess it's all about contacts or being famous yourself, but you never know, you just might get lucky.
